1. Overview

Analysis is the Business Intelligence feature used to explore a dataset interactively — building a pivot table or chart on the fly by dragging fields into place, without going through the full Report Builder flow. It reads directly from any dataset produced by a pipeline

Navigate to:Business Intelligence → Analysis → New Analysis

Step 1 – Name and Dataset

  • Name – a unique, descriptive name for the analysis, used when it is saved.
  • Dataset – the dataset to analyze, e.g. Sale_Invoice, SaleInvoiceandPayment, or invoices_by_client_paid. Selecting a dataset loads its fields into Available Fields in the Configuration panel.
  • Analysis Type – OLAP (Pivot Table) or Comparative Analysis.

Step 2 – Configuration

  • The Configuration panel on the left has two parts:

    • Available Fields — every field in the selected Dataset (the same fields shown in its Schema tab), listed as draggable chips.
    • Three drop targets below it: Rows (Dimensions), Columns (Dimensions), and Values (Measures).
  • Drag a field from Available Fields into one of the three targets to add it to the analysis:
    • Rows (Dimensions) — fields that define the rows of the pivot table (or the x-axis grouping in a chart), e.g. date.
    • Columns (Dimensions) — fields that define the columns of the pivot table (or a series grouping in a chart), e.g. status or country.
    • Values (Measures) — numeric fields to aggregate, shown as a chip such as SUM(total) once added.

    Step 3 – Settings

The Settings panel on the right controls how the Result Viewer displays the analysis:

    • Display Mode — Table (Pivot) or Chart.
    • Chart Type — shown only when Display Mode is set to Chart: Column Chart, Bar Chart, Line Chart, or Area Chart.
    • SQL Preview — a read-only box showing the SQL query generated from the current Rows, Columns, and Values configuration; it updates automatically as fields are added or removed.

    Result Viewer

The Result Viewer in the center starts empty, showing “Drag fields to configure your analysis” until enough fields are configured

The Result Viewer renders a result once either of these combinations is met:

    • At least 1 field in Rows (Dimensions) and at least 1 field in Values (Measures); or
    • At least 1 field in Columns (Dimensions) and at least 1 field in Values (Measures).

The result is drawn according to the Display Mode selected in Settings — as a pivot table if Table (Pivot) is selected, or as the chosen Chart Type if Chart is selected.

    Saving an Analysis

Once a Name, Dataset, Analysis Type, and a valid field configuration are set, click Save (top right) to save the analysis for later reuse.
